इन्द्रियाणि महत् प्रेप्सुर् नियच्छेदर्थधर्मयोः ।
इन्द्रियैर्नियतैर्बुद्धिर् वर्धतेऽग्निरिवेन्धनैः ॥
indriyāṇi mahat prēpsur niyacchēdarthadharmayōḥ ।
indriyairniyatairbuddhir vardhatē’gnirivēndhanaiḥ ॥
He that desireth to obtain extensive empire (any great thing) must bind his senses to both profit and virtue, for if the senses are restrained, intelligence increaseth, like fire that increaseth when fed with fuel.
