आपद्गतं हससि किं द्रविणान्ध मूढ! लक्ष्मीः स्थिरा न भवतीति किमत्र चित्रम् l
एतान् प्रपश्यसि घटान् जलयन्त्रचक्रे, रिक्ता भवन्ति भारिता भरिताश्च रिक्ताः ll

The poet addresses a person who is blinded by the riches when he says here – Hey dull-witted one! Why are you laughing looking at a person fraught with problems? Goddess of Wealth is not one to remain steadfast. Look at the water-wheel (or Persian Wheel). While one pot is being emptied, the other is being filled.
