समदोषः समाग्निश्च समधातुमलक्रियः ।
प्रसन्नात्मेन्द्रियमनाः स्वस्थ इत्यभिधीयते ॥
samadoShah samaagnishcha samadhaatumalakriyah l
prasannatmendriyamanaah svastha ityabhidheeyate ll
That person is healthy, who is
– balanced in all the defects (as per Ayurveda, there are three defects – kapha (Energy that controls growth in the body. It supplies water to all body parts, moisturizes the skin, and maintains the immune system), vaata (Energy that controls bodily functions associated with motion, including blood circulation, breathing, blinking, and your heartbeat) and pitta (Energy that controls the body’s metabolic systems, including digestion, absorption, nutrition, and your body’s temperature))
-whose fires within the body are balanced (Ayurveda identifies 40 different types of fire within the body which control transformation, digestion, absorption, assimilation, the creation of digestive enzymes, all metabolic activities, strength and vitality, tissue nutrition, the production of ojas, tejas and prana, skin color, complexion, glow, and luster, the maintenance of body temperature, mental clarity, intelligence, sensory perception (especially visual perception), flow of cellular communication, alertness, affection, and enthusiasm for life, courage and confidence, joy, laughter, and contentment, discrimination, reason, and logic, patience, stability, and longevity etc.)
– whose dhatus are balanced (Ayurveda mentions seven tissues/minerals which are important from anatomical and immunity point of view. They are Rasa Dhatu or plasma, Rakta Dhatu or blood, Mamsa Dhatu or muscle, Meda Dhatu or fat, Asthi Dhatu or bone, Majja Dhatu or bone-marrow and Shukra Dhatu or reproductive fluid)
– whose excretory functions are working properly
– whose sense organs are not defective and
– whose mind is tranquil and complacent.
